There are 58 high points in Colorado that exceed 14,000'. Collectively, these are known as the "Fourteeners" in honor of their height. Depending on which list you read, you will find anywhere between 53 and 58 peaks on this list. The dispute is based on whether a subpeak of a main mountain also counts as its own mountain (the standard rule is that there must be at least a 300' drop between the two).
On September 13, 2009, I completed my goal of climbing all the Colorado 14ers with a successful climb of San Luis Peak. From my first peak (Mt. Sneffels) to my last, my journey took 9 years and 3 months.
